About Our Church

Welcome to the Covington United Methodist Church (CUMC)

Centered in Christ, Encouraging Others, Welcoming All... helping you encounter and connect to God in your daily life.”

We are happy that you have taken the opportunity to explore our faith community and seek out our fellowship as we seek to serve and follow Jesus.

We are a spirit fed, spirit led congregation that seeks to help you encounter and connect to God through worship and outreach.  We offer a variety of ministries and experiences in which you are invited to participate. We are a “community connected” congregation that seeks to reach out into our community in love. It is our sincere desire that you would join us.

Our services is at 9:00 am with Sunday school at 10:15 a.m It is “family worship” focused! Our worship includes time for the children, the choir, and other celebratory events.

Communion is served the first Sunday of each month at both services. In addition we offer Christmas Eve and Holy Week Services as well as occasional other opportunities for worship.

Our passion for the youth in our community is (demonstrated) through our Kid’s Club Ministry, Community Youth Ministry, and our support of youth soccer and baseball as well as participating with our youth in other community events.

Our Kid’s Club ministry is offered after school at the Covington Elementary and Middle School on Wednesday’s during the school year.

Our community youth program meets quarterly on a Sunday evening for fellowship, games , a brief message, awesome snacks and lots of fun. These ministries are open to all youth regardless of church association.

We have “age level” Sunday school classes from the Nursery through High School levels. Younger children are invited to attend “children’s worship” following the children’s message on Sunday mornings while youth 6th grade and older are invited to participate in our puppet ministry.

We further have two Adult Sunday School Classes. The “win one” class is directed toward “mature” adults while the other adult class focuses upon a variety of interests and studies. We also offer short-term Bible Studies (4-8 weeks each) throughout the year as well as opportunities to participate in leadership studies.

Beyond serving our community by helping to meet the basic needs of our local community for food, clothing and shelter, we also provide other forms of assistance when requested. We give to a variety of local organizations including the support of our local food pantry.

We are actively involved in the Lebanon Children’s Home, host a summer park program, as well as prepare “Buddy Bags” for local school children during the school year.

Our parish nurses offer a blood pressure clinic following worship on the first Sunday of the month. We often check in on our members in residence, assisting them with a variety of tasks and services as needed

During the Fall and Winter months we meet mid-week to partake in “Wednesday Night Gatherings”, a chance to share a meal provided by the church and engage in fellowship. Don't be surprised if a church member asks you to join us.  Please do!

In addition to our Wednesday gathering, we also support and encourage development of several small groups as interest and need develops. Samplings of our groups include an active United Methodist Women’s group, United Methodist Men’s group, The Elite Elders and Adult Choir. Additionally we have a Prayer Group which meets Wednesday mornings at 9:00 AM.

Again, we are spirit filled, spirit led, community connected congregation that hopes you will allow us the opportunity to worship and be in ministry with
